This may not be the 1461 or 1460, nor is it the Adrian Loafer we’ve all come to love this year – however, this may just be the next pair you’re unboxing and strapping up with TOWER.
This could be the next pair you wear back to school - a clean, black leather shoe just ready for the classroom.
Meet the 8065, it’s close to a derby shoe with doses of tasteful design language throughout; let’s get to know them.
History of the Dr. Martens 8065
Back in the mid-’80s, Dr. Martens’ 8065 transformed women’s footwear by taking a silhouette that wasn’t so kind on the eye and making it, well, delightful. They did this through integrating a classic T-bar across the top where laces were once found, and slapping that straight onto a rugged AirWair sole. Despite these tweaks, the 8065 actually remains true to OG DM construction, paying homage to the brand with tough yet supple leather and signature yellow-welt stitching.
Right, here’s the nitty-gritty. Before strapping them on-foot, you’ll find the rugged AirWair sole has taken pride of place, almost acting like a podium if you will – framed in yellow stitching of old. Now, venturing north you’ll meet a perforation or two across the Smooth leather upper, turning classic DM tuning on its head. Of course, the T-bar is there for a secured, adjustable fit, all you need to do is refine the outfit.
